Special Education Advocacy Services

Have a child or friend with a child who might need or currently receives early intervention or special education services? Have a student with an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP)?

We now have availability to provide one-to-one Special Education Advocacy assistance to assist caregivers resolve special education issues. We provide support in both English and Spanish, call our INTAKE LINE: 212-643-2840 Ext. 602 Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm to get started! Email anytime at [email protected].

Virtual After School Art Program, Friends are We! Building Social Skills through the Arts!

Autism Initiative, Sinergia

Some Wednesdays evening from October – November 2024

This interactive after-school program will offer children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), from ages 3 up to 13 years old, with social skills development through the arts. The program involves the participation of students’ parents to learn skills taught and then to reinforce them at home and in their communities. Students will explore various visual art forms in an interactive small group setting.

Advance and Earn is specifically designed for the youth of New York City to support their career aspirations, build a path to success, go out into the workforce and THRIVE!

Direct Support Professional Certification

We help prepare youth for a demanding but rewarding career in the nonprofit industry supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Participants will receive the following training and certifications:

  • NADSP (National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals) DSP Certified Level 1 and 2
  • Introduction to Developmental Disabilities and Core Competencies of Direct Support Professional
  • Supporting people with disabilities in Residential, Day Habilitation, Community and Employment areas.
  • American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Paid Internship ($16/hour for up to 250 hours) in one of leading Non-Profit agencies in the field with Job Placement.

TO QUALIFY a candidate must be…

  • 18-24 years old
  • a resident of any of the five boroughs of New York City
  • High School Diploma or HSE and have no post-secondary degree ( We can also assist with GED program if the person doesn’t have a High school Diploma)
  • unemployed, or working less than 25 hours per week
  • legally authorized to work in the United States
